HOW THE DIALECTIC IS ITS OWN WORST ENEMY

How the dialectic is its own worst enemy.

It's beyond argument that the dialectic is majority materialist and only minority idealist, but not enough attention has been paid to the four constructs that define it additionally. This can be expressed as 1.-our side good, 2.- their side bad, 3.- our side bad, 4.- their side good.

WTF?

Here's the catch; all of it is true, even though in different doses and at different times. We are trained by bad capitalism to think in absolute terms, but the good reality is far more complex. Everything is everything. They pair off as opposites, then merge in some sort of synthesis. Let's see some examples.

I think this pairing off must be absolute, even though it isn't. Because there is good capitalism, too, or rather there was. (Sigh of relief- he doesn't hate ALL capitalists). The breadth and depth of inventions, the fact that lives have been made much easier of the last 200 years, is something to be commended. But what the cost? Millions dead, other millions brainwashed into thinking those deaths were necessary or even a choice. Therein lie the roots of fascism. On a more mundane level, we re trained to see things in absolute terms. USA is good, China bad. I have spoken to many about the great Venezuelan medical care that I have experienced, and they always come back with "but Venezuela is suffering from the government- they can't even keep their sheets clean in the hospitals", something they know nothing about, except through media.  Utter nonsense, of course.

But is it? There is always an unease about absolutes, because it is in our DNA (that why the powers that be work so hard to overcome our tendencies that lie at the molecular level) But it is simple. Both things are true, but at different times and in different degrees. It is simply an uncomfortable truth, for some. So uncomfortable that they become dogmatic and fall back on new absolutes, as useful and oppressive as the old ones. So uncomfortable that they will give their lives for their beliefs.

Or do they? Martyrs are always honored in memory, and memory might have a physical and historical presence. But that is another discussion. Memory is idealist and no good- Or is it? Maybe memory has a small component of physicality that we need to tap into. Maybe the things we see before us as solid- house, car, way of life are fading and crumbling away into nothingness  as we speak. What seemed invincible is now the source of unease. Could it be true? Of course not. But some of it is true- look at the poverty. You're just a naysayer. Hes right. there is too much poverty, it's a scandal,  I'm on his side. Then those dreaded words; TRAITOR! Few of us will know the anguish and stress caused by an organism struggling with the unity of opposites. But the stronger opposing force always wins. Or does it?

Organism? The same exact parallels can be drawn to our bodies. Our bodies are a kind of city. The lights go one, there is sewage, electrical outfits feed each other. But every city has its bright side and the dark. The cells are constantly conspiring to either win or cause harm, just like some fanatical organization. There are soothing elements, cells whose work it is to bring things back together- to heal. But every time the healing cells do this, there is a small residue of evil left in the cell. Fighting its evil, unrelenting nature is such a struggle, we sooner or later give in to it. Its called aging. There is nothing we can do about it.

Or is there? Aging is an adventure, a new stage on the way to Nirvana. While most consider it a disaster that has rendered billions in wealth to enterprising youth-oriented companies, there is something in our DNA that is fascinated by seeing "what is over the hill," to go where no one has gone before- at least not from the same time and place. Aging and death are unique to each. Or are they? We also share the same exact characteristics to everything that has ever lived, so they are hardly unique.

Just a seed, Let's see what it will grow into.
